Visiting Mom

Here is a darling photo of Mom with Mary Jo, Kathleen, Aunt Harriet and Irene on the day before my return to California.   Wear sunglasses to avoid the glare of all that "white" hair!  What a nice afternoon!   Mom was up and about and we all had such a nice visit.     Missing from the photo because her hair is still brown is Celeste who is now living with Mom.   Kathleen is staying there for a few more weeks to help.   

Mom visiting with the hospice chaplain yesterday and wishes that she could see all of her grandchildren.  There are 13 grandchildren now and many more great grandchildren.     Wouldn't it be nice to go see her or even write or send photos, drawings, or even videos of one another!    The only problem is there is not internet access or computers there, so whatever you may record has to go on a DVD.

Our family gets together.....

Happily when her family arrived to visit this fall, Dorothy Brady was doing so well.   Her recent hospital stay signaled the need for oxygen, and as soon as her body got used to more, she started feeling so much better.

We celebrated by having an early Thanksgiving meal.  Turkey with all the trimmings, including Adrian's Potato Fiesta, Ellen's scrumptious stuffing, Gay's macaroni salad, and the best pickled beets I've ever had.   Kaitlyn was visiting from Paul Smith College, where she is pulling straight A's.   Erin brought her new puppy, Bobby and Allyssa.  We also celebrated Adrian's health. 

 It was so good to see everyone.   The New York colors were beautiful, probably at their peak, when we were there.  My daughter, Kathleen, will be visiting this week as she is going to Ithaca College to see her son, Ryan.  I hope to be able to send more photos when she returns.

Mom Brady

Hi, Family,

I just wanted to let everyone know that Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma Brady hasn't been feeling well.  She's been in and out of St. Mary's hospital this past week, but seems much better now that they have adjusted her medications, and oxygen.   She is now 89 years of age.   

I'm sure she would love to hear from all of us.    If you would like to send cards, drawings, letters, she would be thrilled.    Kathy and I will be visiting from Oct. 13-26th.   Aunt Celeste is now living with Mom and continues to create her usual fun and ministrations to our mama.   I love watching her sit at Mother's regal feet, doing her nails.   It is just as it should be.

Also, my sister Laura's husband, Adrian, has just undergone some surgery, is home now and having his toenails colored glow in the dark green, last time I called.   His doctors tell him he will return to "normal" quite soon.   Whatever he meant by that....I will just wait to see.

Logan's Fourth Birthday Party

October and May are the prime birthday months in our family.  Monica is Oct. 2 we had a wonder party at Flavors of India that night.   Lots of fun and new taste sensations. 

Logan was 4 on Oct. 4.   He had a party at Live Oak Park in Berkeley under the redwoods and live oaks, naturally.  The alligator pinata was a great hit!

Logan was the perfect host as Pila took his turn at bat.  Finally Aunt Kathy, Grandma Irene and multiple strong men broke open that crusty alligator and released it's treasure.

Hello, Family!

May is such a month.    We have so many birthdays and events happening that my head is spinning.  Fun, though.   Here are some of the birthdays, including pre May and slightly post May. 

April 30:   Ronnie Bince,  May 3, Dorothy Brady; May 10, Miriam Thomas; May 16, Kathy and Sharon Morris;  May 23, William Thomas (Pila);  May 24, Kathleen Berquist;  June 4,  Mark Brady;  June 4, Danielle Bince, June 4, possible birthday of new baby of Miriam & John.  Wowww! 

I want to wish my mother a very happy 89th birthday, tomorrow, and Happy Mother's Day next Sunday. 

Next weekend is a big party to raise money and awareness of Cavernous Angiomas, a disease that affects Ronnie and Kathy's family, which includes all of us.   Ronnie's best friends have put together a dance for a cure including most of the famous young disc jockeys from San Francisco, and it is always a winner.  There are lots of links on facebook including some clips of Kathy, Ronnie and me.   I will do a free pet portrait for anyone who donates $150 to the Angioma Alliance in honor of Ronnie!

Bill has been busy doing his photography of rugby games and local birds and this keeps him very busy!   Kathy is visiting Mom this week and I miss her.  Way too quiet here!    We have started a new tradition of Sunday dinner at 4 for any of the kids who have nothing to do.   It is working out very well and it makes me happy to see everyone more often.   The invitation is open to all of you, as well.      I love you all and wish you a Happy Spring and Summer.

Hello Family

Hello Everyone!

My name is Emily and I am Marion's oldest and Lois' oldest grandchild.....wow, am I making myself sound old or what! :-) I have enjoyed meeting many of you on facebook and hope to connect with many of you through Irene's blog as well. My mom was so excited to be connecting with all of you over the past several years so I hope to keep her enjoyment going.

A bit about me. I've been married for 6 years and we have one four legged child named Lucy. My husband Peter and I adore her...she knows it! I work for an insurance company and manage a staff of 6, which keeps me very busy. Peter is a software developer. I am into cooking and entertaining, I just love having our house full of family and friends. Peter is very into photography in his spare time and even has a studio in our basement. I try my hand at blogging...not sure that anyone actually reads it though. For about two years I blogged about cooking and entertaining, then when my mom got sick I sort of slacked off. I've recently just started a new blog which will probably have a lot of my cooking projects, but other things as well, you can see it at www.decade-three.blogspot.com. I also try to be good at photography. I can't come close to the talents of my husband, but you can see photos of our family and friend at www.kallos.smugmug.com.

Again, I am so looking forward to getting to know all of you! Thank you to all who have sent me such kind emails and Facebook messages about my mom. This is the most difficult thing I have ever experienced and it feels so good to know that others loved and cared for her as much as we did.
