Project Open Hand- Plate2Plate

The weather gods were with us after our sweltering day yesterday, and our shoes were festooned with high tech gadgets to mark our time and whether we did indeed start and finish the Plate 2 Plate Challenge at Giants Stadium fundraiser for Project Open Hand over in the City.

Ida, Bobbi, Simone, Cele and I wore happy smiles prior to lining up at the Starting Gate. The highlight of the walk was being about to walk around the field inside the stadium and actually step on Home Plate and then scurry outside to head for the finish.


Here is our happy crowd just having passed the finish line and ready for a coffee and a free Giants game this afternoon. Giants beat the Colorado Rockies. Yeaaay. Such an enjoyable day filled with camaraderie, compassion, and expansive views of our beautiful bay while watching a major league baseball game. Such is the life of a happy walker.

Joey

Joey was my cat. He came in each night at 9pm and sat on my chest while I watched my late night movie. Every morning he met me for breakfast (his) and had coffee with me in the garden on our swinging bench under the potato vines. We watched the birds and the squirrels. The rest of the day he guarded our yard from marauders including our dog, Bolo. They had an interesting relationship as Joey was older when Bolo was a pup and Bolo never had the upper hand, although he tried. He would come just so close and then recoil. We all played chase around the back yard. For the past few weeks, Joey had hidden away after a bad diagnosis from the vet. We couldn't find him anywhere and then he turned up in the kitchen a few nights ago and we found out where he had been...all settled in a box in the basement which he closed. Today I took him in. I will miss him.

First day of school.

Hello family members! Just thought I'd update you all on the new stuff happening in our lives. The girls started school this past Monday. Lydia is now in 6th grade and is enjoying being the oldest in the school, this year she has four teachers and is practicing switching classes in preparation for middle and High school. Ava is starting full day Kindergarten and is trying to be brave but is having some trouble adjusting to the long days and missing me. Everyday has been a little better so in no time at all she'll have it licked. I started work at the girls school part-time and am trying to figure it all out too! A little chaotic these first few days for me and the girls. Dave is working again out in Cave Creek at a bike shop, there wasn't enough work right now to continue on his own at our house. BUT the most exciting part is on Sept. 1st we'll be moving into a new house across the street from ours. It's a 4 bedroom, two bath and along with a 2 car garage attached to the house it has a huge work shop in the back for Dave and his motorcycle business. We can't wait and are very excited to have more space and a nice new place to move into. Love to all of you and I'll send pictures of the new place once we're settled in. Mae

Finally landed a job

Hi all, how is everyone doing? I just completed my first full week at my new job. I was hired by Fairport Central School District as a Programmer Analyst. I will be developing .NET programs along with maintaining systems I put in place while I was there as an intern. I completed all three of RIT's required internships at the school district so I already am familiar with everyone and it is great to be back. All of my coworkers are great and the IT director is doing a lot of new things with technology in the classroom and I am excited to have the opportunity to help.

Plus I get state benefits, my own office, and I can ride my bike to work every day because it is only about 10 minutes away. I am really excited =)

Family Reunion

Hey Family! Do we want to start planning another family reunion? I would love to see you all again. I would like to offer to host the reunion at our place. If it is more convenient for it to be held somewhere else that is fine too.

Should we plan to have it next summer? Thoughts.................
