Paula & the Peeps

Friday morning I just couldn't stand it another minute I needed a Peep fix! So off I go to the Kroger near my office to get my fill of those yummy yellow sugary treats , while in the store what should by eyes gaze upon but a table covered with Paula's new cook book, The Deen Family Cookbook
A small sign announced that Paula would be in the Kroger that afternoon signing her book from 5 to 7 pm. With Peeps and book in hand (40% off the suggested retail price) I happily checked out returned to work munching my Peeps and waiting for 5 o'clock.
Returning to the store we were given a number mine was 0178 (by the time I left the line had grown to over 600) and was told that they would call us in groups of 50, I could bearly contain myself, as they time went by the number people in the store began to grow each of us clutching our books and asking "has she arrived yet?" and sure enough at about 5:20 she arrived along with her husband Michael, Kroger was out of control!
Paula and Michael looked just like they do on television and as sweet as any two people could be. It was a nice way to end a very hetic week!
Here is one of my family's favorite Paula Deen's desserts. My son in law Peter and his brother Max love it and I make it for many of our family get togethers, when Lindsey, Max's wife was pregnant with their son Riley I kept her cravings under control with this yummy dessert:
Not Yo Mammas Banana Pudding
Ingredients
2 bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
6 to 8 bananas, sliced
2 cups milk
1 (5-ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whipped cream
Directions
Line the bottom of a 13 by 9 by 2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top.
In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer. Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth. Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended. Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Enjoy!

First off, I have been needing a peep fix (since we didn't get any for Easter and darnit I'm determined - if hubby doesn't come home at least one solitary peep tonight, he's in on my $#%^ list if ya know what I mean)

Anyway, I would positively FLIP if I knew I'd be going back to see Paula after 5pm! Of course you got the book signed right?!

What did we discuss at last week's Weight Watcher meeting...Peeps.

The consensus was do not get the sugar free ones, they are the pits, I mean, peets.

Go ahead and have a few just count the points. Marion, I got fat just reading your family recipe. It sounded completely DELECTABLE!
