Last week I saw a video (it's 18 minutes) on TED.com by a wonderful scientist named Jill Bolte Taylor who had recently appeared on Oprah, and was written about in the latest issue of AARP magazine. She was a brain scientist who had a massive stroke and she described in detail what this stroke was like as it happened, and how it left her in a state of bliss. It took her 8 years to recover to "normalcy" although it was hard to leave that perpetual state of wonder and joy.
Her book is called "A Stroke of Insight".

She has been in an extended care facility and has little rehab there.

thank you for sharing this story, not sure if you know but my husband Will has a stroke 8 years ago and thank goodness he pulled through and does not need constant attention it certainly has changed our lives. I look forward to reading Jill's book and hopefully I can get Will to read it to! Make it a great day
